Africom sent representatives from its Humanitarian and Health Activities (HHA) Branch and from the Center for Disaster and Humanitarian Assistance Medicine (CDHAM) to assist in facilitation of the USAID-sponsored Multi-Sectoral Pandemic Preparedness Workshop in Kenya. The purpose of the workshop was to bring together key Kenyan stakeholders from the government, private sector and Non-Governmental Organization community in order to receive additional preparedness training. The intent is for these planners to use those skills to draft mutually supporting sector contingency plans that would be utilized in the event that Kenya is affected by a pandemic outbreak. The various sectors committed to meeting again over the next several months in order to complete the plans.
